Some staff find at valuable to have access to the blog so we will reactivate it.
Please use email as your primary communication tool and I will post events when possible on the blog.
Notes of Interest:
• Thank you for your attendance and energy for the Meet the Teacher night last week, there was a real positive feel and the parents I spoke to were wrapped.
• National Standards Presentation on Monday the 28th of February at 7pm, all expected to attend to show understanding and familiarity before we hold the first Student, Teacher, Parent Conferences in Week 6.
• Tony Ryan is coming to Stoke School on Monday the 28th, working with Kimberley, Sarah and myself. All staff are invited to attend NCA on Tuesday the 1st of March from 3:30pm to here him speak.
Agenda:
Admin Quick stuff:
• Student/Teacher/Parent Conferences: How will the child be involved? Are they at the centre of their learning? What data will you have to share? What goals will you set, in what format?
• Targeted Students, Action plans for Targets and planning for Kai Ora are all on the agenda for the next few meetings.
Discussion:
• Presentation from Renei and Gary from MOE regarding a contract called PB4L (positive behaviour for learning). It is crucial we are all supportive of this initiative as this is one of the ways they will use to chose schools, (see below). To me this contract will be really beneficial to cement systems in place around the implementation of our School Vision and Curriculum, around setting expectations around behaviour and setting the values and ethos of our school. If accepted on the contract we will receive money towards PD and Jane will be the leader.
• Question 11 for the PB4L seminar states...
"...Do you agree to be an active participant in school-wide information?..."
Unless you have 80% of your staff in favour of this option - you are not enhancing your chances (according to Renei and Gary)
The questionnaire is given out after the power point presentation.
• Inquiry Tools Sarah and Kimberley will start to share some tools for you to use in your classroom, it is expected you will file these tools together to build up a resource of Inquiry skills to help you in your future planning.
