TERM 2

Notes of Interest:

Agenda: Admin Quick stuff:
• We need to get Curriculum Statements drafted for our curriculum areas to say “At Stoke School this is what we believe”. This term we need to confirm Health and PE and get on to Social Sciences and Arts. Have a think (before this weeks staff meeting) about what does Health and PE mean at Stoke School and what developments could we make. Sarah has drafted a format that we can build on to. Please find attached.
• Staff Meetings: On Tuesday we need to go back to a development focus not admin stuff. Each meeting will start at 3:15pm and include 2 topics of 45 minutes each. Admin stuff can be relayed via Email, or http://stokestaff.blogspot.com/ or Thursday admin meeting. Thursday meetings can be used for admin and ICT and everyone was in favor of keeping them.
• ICT: We need to remember ICT is still one of our major focus areas but ties in with everything and so have a think about what you would like development/support in. The rest of the cluster is coming for a walk through Stoke School this term and we will have turns visiting other schools so think about what we could be displaying. Andrew will facilitate a meeting in Week 3 to look at our ICT plans and development.
• Reporting to Parents: Thursday the 29th of April. School closes at 12:30pm, interviews commence at 1pm. Teachers should have printed off reports before this interview and have data and goal ready to share. Goals must be specific, measurable etc. Once the goal has been confirmed with the parent the report will be printed off the following week and sent home.
• Memorial for Liz: When are we going to do this? Library Cup?
• Guitar/Band: Guitar practise will be on Tuesday afternoon, Band will be on Friday from 11-12:30pm. Band auditions are on this Wednesday from 11:00 onwards.
• School Vision: Please have a look at the vision and share your ideas to change any wording. At the moment I’m thinking we could change Empathy to Elearning as empathy is pretty similar to respect and diversity. Maybe Energy should be changed to Enthusiasm, excitement??
• Parent Consultation: Week 3 Term 3 we need to have a major consultation with the whole community. This will be a time to share our school vision, reporting process and to gain information for our school curriculum.
• Topics Term 2: At our last meeting we discussed Topics for this term being, Money Makes the World Go Round, Economic Activity and Market Day, we need to decide on this and get stuck into it so it is not airy fairy. Football World Cup towards the end of term.
• HOUSE GROUPS: Craig will be starting to develop a system for this to continue to develop whanau, have a think about the activities we could do to encourage the use of House Groups, school walk, whole school physical activity rotation, peer coaching, Inter-House challenge?
• ERO: Draft report is in and reads really well, see Pete if you would like a read.
• Timetables: Please check with Sarah if any changes need to be made
• Staff Update: Jane will be away until at least Week 4. Desiree probably all of Term 2

Discussion:
• Deb Grover Literacy Learning Progressions/ National Standards/ Exemplars: Please bring your copy of the Literacy learning Progressions.
• Health & PE Statement: Please bring your NZ Curriculum.
